This course prepares students for scientific communication in English. It helps students learn how to communicate their research with other scientists and how to organize information.
A distinction between science magazines and scientific journals is made early in the course. Students learn to write in a clear, concise style through writing activities that help improve sentence and paragraph structure specific for scientific research. The program includes how to write an abstract, the methods section of a science paper and how to cite references. They are familiarized with the scientific manuscript reviewing process and with the notion of impact factor. They will learn to present their research in the form of a poster, a scientific paper and an oral presentation.
