Goal(s)
The objective of this course is to tackle different areas of image processing such as: image restoration, edge detection, segmentation, and compression trying to put forward the versatility of some tools like partial differential equations for various purposes.
Sylvain MEIGNEN
Content(s)
In this course, we will more precisely tackle the following aspects of image processing:
- Image restoration (Wiener filter (discrete, continuous), algebric formulation of filtering, nonlinear filtering with wavelets)
- Edge dectection (Canny's algorithm, active contour method)
- Nonlinear filtering and image segmentation (Heat Equation, Anisotropic diffusion)
- Multiresolution aspect of Image Processing (Compression)
First year course on mathematical analysis, differential calculus
The understanding of this course will be assessed through a written examination at the end of the semester.
