During 3 days, Emilie Herault and Maxime Bernier led the RAP, tackling the theme of Terahertz spectroscopy and imaging from both a theoretical and, above all, an experimental point of view.

The 21st edition of CSAW Europe, involving 145 finalists representing more than 45 European universities from 13 different countries, was held at Grenoble INP – Esisar, UGA for the eighth consecutive year on 7 and 8 November.

Funded by ANR, the Napkins project aims to develop 100% bio-based biodegradable sanitary towels. Coordinated by Cécile Sillard, LGP2* engineer, this project features four academic partners: LGP2, CEMEF (MINES ParisTech), 3SR** laboratory, and Nancy’s LERMAB.

Having graduated from Grenoble INP - Ense³, UGA, Juliette Martin is now a general installation engineer at EDF Edvance. She works on the construction site of 2 reactors at Hinkley Point C, a power station in the United Kingdom.

On 18 October, at the Association of Francophone Universities (AUF) award ceremony, Grenoble INP – Ense³, UGA was awarded the Educational Innovation Prize 2024 in the ecological transformation category for the PV Panel Cleaner project.

Coordinated by CSUG* in partnership with several laboratories such as LIG,(1) CROMA(2) and OSUG (3) the Thingsat project intends to provide an orbiting research platform to test robust, energy-saving radio communications in space.

Work recently published in Nature by two researchers from LEPMI* and SIMaP** shows that it is possible to replace the iridium oxide used as a catalyst in alkaline electrolysers with iron/nickel/chromium alloys that are much cheaper, readily available and recyclable.

Integrated optics lasers on glass

Nolio, the platform for planning and tracking training and analysing sports performance, founded by graduates of Grenoble INP – Ensimag, UGA, is continuing its ascent. Since its beginnings in 2019, it has attracted 500 active coaches and 30,000 users.

Seven years after its creation, Vulkam has just completed a second record-breaking round of fund-raising to the tune of €34 million, which the start-up developed by SIMaP will use to finance the construction and commissioning of its production plant in Le Versoud (Isère, France), starting in 2025.

At 61, Yves Bréchet, scientific director of Saint-Gobain, has been awarded the Robert Cahn prize in recognition of his whole career dedicated to materials.

Julien Bras was appointed a senior member of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF, Academic Institute of France) at an official ceremony in October 2022 in the presence of Sylvie Retailleau, Minister for Higher Education and Research. This honour, given to only 2% of academic staff, was awarded in recognition of his work in the field of cellulose.

The recent changes in the legislation on collective self-consumption has made it possible to carry out a full-scale experiment, previously reserved for community groups and local authorities, on the university campus in Grenoble. Although this is a first for a university, there are about a hundred similar projects underway in France.
