Content(s)

This course aims to enable students to examine the socio-ecological transition as an economic issue. We will explore how economics can be used to model and analyze environmental problems. The course will therefore present the fundamental concepts and theories necessary to develop a critical understanding of the transition. Five main questions will be addressed:

Does growth necessarily harm the environment?
Are markets effective in addressing environmental challenges?
Can the socio-ecological transition be financed?
Should we produce and consume locally?
What role can the state play in the transition?
