Goal(s)

This course is designed for students who want to learn techniques that combine

  • development,
  • continuous integration,
  • continuous deployment
within the context of full?stack distributed applications.

To apply these principles at the heart of DevOps, the course relies on building applications that use web technologies.

Responsible(s)

Sebastien VIARDOT

Content(s)

Understand the fundamental concepts of web development and apply them to simple applications.
Master the basics of continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), use GitLab, and deploy on PaaS platforms.
Write unit, functional, and end?to?end tests for web applications (Q&A).
Asynchronous programming.
REST APIs.
Design and deploy full?stack applications (frontend?+?backend) using frameworks such as React and Node/Express.

Prerequisites

No specific prerequisites, but the following courses are recommended (though not mandatory):

Database Management Systems – In application development you will use databases and ORMs, and this course helps you understand the underlying mechanisms.
Analysis, Design, and Object?Oriented Programming – You will develop an application that incorporates object?oriented concepts and design methodologies; this course will better prepare you for those aspects.
Principles of the Internet – Deployed applications are often spread across multiple servers, and the interactions between those servers require asynchronous communication and appropriate programming. The concepts covered in this course help you identify related causes and constraints. Moreover, it also teaches you how to implement the sockets that underpin server programming.
Operating Systems and Cloud Computing – System?level concerns are ubiquitous in the functioning of deployed applications (parallelism, resource management, etc.). In addition, implementing CI/CD involves working with containers and virtualization, topics that are addressed in this course.

Test

Evaluation : Examen sur machine (3h)

On-machine review with restricted access to certain sites (no generative AI access) (E). The exam grade can be modulated by the elements requested during the semester (quiz, practical work and peer evaluation). No documents allowed during the test.
