Goal(s)
Participants will be able to invent, design, implement and evaluate User Interfaces (UIs) ranging from traditional to advanced interactive systems, thereby covering a large scope of existing and upcoming systems. Two examples of advanced systems will be considered: plastic and persuasive interactive systems.
In Human Computer Interaction (HCI), plasticity refers to the ability of UIs to adapt to the context of use (
One step further, interactive systems are no more limited to business applications. With ubiquitous computing, interaction becomes a daily life activity no more limited to work, which is also a major evolution in HCI. This makes it possible to invent technology as means for tackling societal challenges such as health care (e.g., stop smoking, practice sport, eat healthy) or energy saving. Persuasive technology, as interdisciplinary research field, explores the appropriateness of technology to foster and support people attitudes and/or behaviors changes over time.
Altogether plasticity and persuasion will serve as illustrations to describe the know-how in engineering HCI, and to identify the limitations. Core methods and models will be presented and enhanced for covering future systems.
