Goal(s)
Basic knowledge in biological modeling is a fundamental perequisite to bio-informatics engineering or any computational attempt in analyzing biological systems. This course provides an introduction to the basic concepts used in mathematical modeling for biological processes.

The course si divide in 4 short projects. The topics of projetcs can change every year. They include the following themas
- Modeling bio-diversity : branching processes and the Yule distribution
- Alignment algorithms for bio-informatic sequence analysis
- Game theory and the modeling of cooperative behavior
- Cell proliferation and differentiation : Evolution of cancer
- Genetic regulation mechanisms and gene networks
- The genetic structure of human populations
