  • to introduce standard impact evaluation methods, from electricity consumption of softwares to life cycle analysis, and the estimation of rebound and indirect effects;
  • to apply theses methods in ICT;
  • to unveil the limits of these methods, so as to exercise a critical point of view on their application, is particular in ICT.

Responsible(s)

Sylvain BOUVERET, Florence MARANINCHI

  • Introduction to the measure of power consumption of software programs (physical devices and software probes)
  • Introduction to life cycle analysis (LCA) and application to ICT
  • Rebound effect, indirect impacts, and methods dedicated to the analysis of these effects
  • Critical feedback on impact evaluation methods
  • Introduction to the sociology of quantification
  • Study of prospective scenarios
