Goal(s)
This course aims to provide students with:
- a general background in post-genome biology, with a focus on bioinformatics;
- practical knowledge of the Perl programming language, which will be acquired through applications in bioinformatics.
Content(s)
- Background in post-genome biology.
- Introduction to bioinformatics, selected classics.
- Presentation (and how to make use) of the major sources of biological data: proteins (Uniprot), biomolecular interactions (Intact etc...), functional annotation (Gene Ontology),...
- Perl [for bioinformatics].
- Using a "Biology-Oriented" OODBMS (acedb).
- Analysing biological networks.
