Goal(s)

This course provides an introduction to clinical issues and state of the art of the methods used to process and analyze medical images, multi-modality images fusion, surgical procedure planning and simulation, and assisted surgery.
It is linked with booming research topics in computer assisted medical intervention.

  • Introduction to the clinical challenges and issues of computer assisted medical intervention and its related scientific topics and research fields
  • Medical imaging: segmentation, 3D reconstruction and data fusion
  • Modeling and simulation: biomechanics (discrete and continuum) for pre- and per-operative simulation
  • Medical robotics: issues, history and characteristic techniques
  • Computer Assisted Medical Intervention systems examples

Illustration for the medical imaging and modeling/simulation parts is provided by a tutorial

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge in image processing/analysis, robotics or simulation are welcomed but not necessary

Test

Practical work using the CamiTK Framework (http://camitk.imag.fr)
Exam based on reading a scientific paper (individual exam - usually 3h)

N1 = 1/2 P + 1/2 E1
N2 = E2

The exam is given in english only FR
